medizintechnikErlangen has distinguished itself as Germany’s capital of Medicine. Siemens Healthineers, one of the world’s largest industrial enterprises in this field, is headquartered in Erlangen.

Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) has long pursued cutting-edge research in Medical Engineering.

Within the Medical Engineering programme, Materials Science is involved in the study branch “Medical Device Engineering, Production Technology and Prosthetics.” Here, it provides the basis for research on innovative biocompatible materials such as artificial bone for implants and prosthetics.
