Colorful, delicious, diverse, inspiring — the Materials Science Fair of Possibilities
On October 25, 2025, the time has finally come: The Long Night of Science is back. And, of course, the Department of Materials Science will be there.
This year, the Department of Materials Science and Technology is once again showcasing everything it has to offer: a diverse selection of experiments to participate in, try out, and marvel at.
There’s something for everyone:
Find out what metals and chocolate have in common.
Embark on a journey through the world of biomedical materials with jelly and gummy bears.
Join us for a funfair of possibilities: test your skills at the slapstick game and discover what sweets and glass have in common.
Create your own sweet treats with your own metal cookie cutters and take your personalized cookie cutter home with you at the end of the evening.
Adult sweet-tooths can expect an answer to the question of what “beer spiking” is all about at the forge.
There is also the opportunity to take part in an Actionbound scavenger hunt across the grounds of the Faculty of Engineering, where you can get to know the departments of Materials Science, Chemical and Bioengineering, and Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Information Technology better. Great prizes await the most successful knowledge hunters.
