Smart Adhesive Technology in Practice - From Materials Science to Industrial Innovation at DELO
This talk explores modern adhesive technology through DELO's industrial expertise. Beginning with a company overview, we examine Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) sensors as a practical case study, demonstrating critical adhesive applications in medical devices.
We detail the systematic adhesive selection process, i.e., how application-specific requirements translate to certain adhesive properties and explore light-curing adhesives, including their photochemical mechanisms and different process options. The presentation concludes with real-world project insights from one of DELO's application engineers, showcasing how interdisciplinary engineering principles translate into innovative industrial solutions. Real application examples include complex drop test phenomena, or the high precision alignment of optical systems, and how DELO enables improvements.
This talk illustrates how theoretical knowledge - material parameters, curing mechanisms, constructional considerations and others - drives technological innovation in the adhesive industry.
