Prof. Hael Mughrabi, professor emeritus and long-time head of the Institute of General Materials Properties (WW1), was recently awarded with the Robert Franklin Mehl TMS-Award at the Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS) conference in San Antonio, USA.

Prof. Mughrabi received the prize for his groundbreaking achievements in the field of material fatigue, which are important contributions to the development of the basic understanding of deformation and damage of metallic materials. With this high distinction, the TMS also acknowledges Prof. Mughrabi’s outstanding importance as a leading international scientist in the field of materials.  The prize, awarded since 1922, is the society’s highest honor and is rarely awarded to a German scientist.

The TMS is America’s most important material science association.
